The Pontic or artificial tooth component of a bridge is used to replace a visible tooth requiring both strength and for cosmetic appearances. The Pontic is created from porcelain fused to a metal alloy which contains a high percentage of noble metal (platinum, gold, or palladium) to create a natural look while maintaining durability and corrosion resistance. The bridge is held in place by crowns of adjacent teeth.

The teeth on either side of the gap is shaped to accept crowns, install a temporary artificial tooth, and make an impression that is sent to the lab. On the second visit the permanent bridge is attached.
